Please give this your widest distribution immediately, and let me know that you have.
As you know, our objective in Region 1 is to get the most gymnasts to Regional Championships as possible without sacrificing the integrity of the event . Until I get your numbers (in February), we (the Region 1 Board) take the best guess on numbers, and create the schedule (back in July). Occasionally the numbers I get are so different from what we thought they would be, that we must change the TENTATIVE schedule that I have published. That is the case this year, so please note and distribute this email to your clubs and parents.
Level 7 age 12+, you were scheduled to compete in Session 7, on Saturday April 5th at 12:00 PM. You have been moved to session 4, on Friday April 4th at about 7:45 AM. The good news is that you will now be included in the qualification process for event finals and will compete with your younger teammates. The bad news is that you don’t get to sleep in, but neither do I so tough luck (kidding).
Level 9 age 14+, you were scheduled to compete in Session 6, on Friday April 4th at 4:45 PM with the Level 8’s. You have been moved to session 2, on Thursday April 3rd at about 11:15 AM with the Level 10’s. The good news is that I have allotted space for 20 Level 9’s 14+, so far there are only 13 declared, so that means all of you get a pass to Regional Championships. As a side note Coaches, there are 125 level eights trying to get one of the 72 slots open for level 8’s, so if you have an older level 8 that could go Level 9 14+, you may want to consider it since there are 7 free spots open. !!!!HOWEVER!!!!, if too many of you switch, you will overflow the 20 slots available and I will have to use the allotment formula to decide who goes.
Without getting too detailed (I will if you want me to), this change allows 42 additional level 5 and 6 12+ gymnasts to get to Regionals, and lets the older Level 7’s get in event finals and be a part of their state’s level 7 team.
I THOUGHT IT IMPORTANT THAT I GET THIS OUT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BECAUSE IT MAY CHANGE SOME PEOPLE’S SCHEDULES.
BY MARCH THE 1ST I WILL RE-ISSUE THE COMPETITION SCHEDULE AND THE ALLOTMENT MATRIX.
